After the majestic performance in the DFB Pokal final against RB Leipzig, Dortmund CEO Hans Joachim Watzke announced that only a few days prior to the match, Edin Terzić signed a new contract with the club. With the appointment of Gladbach’s Marco Rose for next season, Terzić was not expected to stay, and many top-tier teams had their eyes on the 38-year-old manager. Borussia Dortmund have spent the vast majority of the second-half of the season outside the top four, but their recent four game-win streak has set Edin Terzic’s team within touching distance of the top four. This past weekend they extended that win streak to five games, securing an important 2-1 win over RB Leipzig.

After the sacking of Lucien Favre in December, assistant coach Edin Terzic was given the interim role at Borussia Dortmund. Unfortunately for the first time manager, things could not have gotten off to a rockier start. Terzic won just six of his opening thirteen matches in charge, forcing Dortmund into a difficult situation heading into the final third of the season with a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League in their sights. However, in recent weeks, Edin Terzic has grown his reputation, with Borussia Dortmund now on a 4 match win streak in the league as they charge toward the top four…maybe even three. So with that, we provide a second tactical analysis on Edin Terzic’s Borussia Dortmund, and their chances of finishing top four this season.
After just one successful year with SC Freiburg in 2014-15, Roman Burki made a move to Borussia Dortmund to replace their legendary goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller. The Swiss keeper has done okay throughout his time at the club, but was never a standout, lifesaving, shot-stopping heroic figure. Marwin Hitz came in at the start of Lucien Favre’s time in charge of the team to push Burki for a place, but he too struggled to fully convince in his limited appearances. So with Burki on the decline and the aging Hitz struggling to fully establish himself, Borussia Dortmund are now in search of a new goalkeeper. Reports in the German media suggest that Dortmund have several keepers on their radar – including Koen Casteels, Gregor Kobel and Peter Gulacsi. So with Dortmund on the hunt, we analyze and compare the stats in an attempt to find the best possible solution for the club. At the end of this article we will also give a verdict on who Dortmund should sign based on these stats.
